Prop 8

Why is this even an issue? I have a proposition. How about equal rights for all!?!? Isn’t that what our constitution stands for? This is 2009, come on. This crap sounds so much like separate but equal. Two people who love each other want to be together. Who cares what sex they are. This is ridiculous. I’ve heard supporters of Prop 8 state they want to save the sanctity of the “traditional marriage”. You know at one point interracial marriages weren’t exaclty traditional. God, at one point some people had to sit at the back of the bus, or use separate water fountains. But, those were bad ideas and needed to change! What if they never had? What if we had kept things the way they were? What if we do the same now?

If you really want to break things down, it really shouldn’t be an issue because marriage is a legal matter! Where do you go to get your marriage license? The courts!! In the eyes of the law you are legally binding  yourself financially to another person. What difference does it make if both are the same sex? Two people of the same sex can’t share finances? I know marriage is much more than that, but in the eyes of the law, and this is a legal matter, that’s what it boils down to. Oi.

California, and the rest of the country, get with it. That is all.

One Response to “Prop 8”
